Bios are always a bit daunting, but let's see if anything here can help you to gain a meaningful sense of who I am and how I might serve you or your community.
I am a very imperfect yet fortunate person who has both been given a lot and come through a lot, thanks to Spirit, the Ancestors, communities, mentors and family (of origin and chosen).
I identify as a queer cis 3rd generation Asian American woman of Okinawan and Japanese descent, formed on the unceded ancestral lands of both the Gabrieleno Tongva and Muwekma Ohlone peoples. (now known as greater LA and the SF Bay Area). My urban and R&B sensibilities are essential to me. It's also important for me to live out a reckoning of my experiences of privilege and of oppression.
I also identify as a sensitive & a creative. I seem to have mystical tendencies. I pray to twelve facets of the Holy One beginning with the Holy Trinity and necessarily with nine ways of the Divine Feminine. For me, spiritual realities, postcolonial analysis and living in solidarity with oppressed persons are intertwined and vital.
I only share these things to be transparent about the lenses through which I offer my work and services.
I hold an MSW from UC Berekely, an MFA from the California Institute of Integral Studies, and an MDiv from the Pacific School of Religion. My clinical license # is LCS17051. I am a member of Spiritual Directors International.
I am honored to be a Certified InterPlay Leader and Teaching Mentor, and Certified Facilitator of Poetry as a Tool for Wellness, I am humbled to have been a PEN Rosenthal Emerging Voices Literary Fellow, Hedgebrook Writing Resident, Spirit of InterPlay recipient, and Freda Smith Feminist Preaching Awardee.
These have been some of my greatest teachers: Artists who are spiritually connected + socially located Children who suffered great abuse and institutionalization Children and adults facing life-threatening illness and loss Persons and families living with HIV/AIDS, Black, Indigenous, Brown, Trans siblings and loved ones living with Disabilities Faith-rooted activists Ocean
I am grateful for the possibility to accompany you, sharing what I have been given, as a fellow bodyspirit living for a more just, wise, sustainable and humane world.
